Pinellas County sheriff's deputies found Charles W. Gill, 41, and David C. Bolan, 24, near Curlew Road and U.S. 19.
Authorities said the men worked at a restaurant on U.S. 19 and refused to get into a state Department of Corrections van about 8 p.m. after work. Instead, they ran, prompting a search by helicopter and dogs. Charged with escape, they were being held at the Pinellas County Jail without bail.
John Espey seeks new political life in Dunedin DUNEDIN Former School Board member John Espey, an often controversial figure during his tenure, has decided to give politics another try. About 30 minutes before the filing deadline Tuesday, Espey became a candidate for mayor of Dunedin, challenging incumbent Espey Tom. Anderson. The election is Feb. 11.
Espey said he hasn't developed a platform yet, but ran because he didn't want to see Anderson elected without opposition, as he was in 1994. He was at the time of his death a member and deacon at North East Park Baptist Church, where he founded the Deacons Quartet.
He was a member of PINMAR Antique Auto Club and the National Street Rod Association. Petersburg, died Monday for about five years. He twice ran unsuccessfully for property appraiser and once for the Clearwater City Commission. He served three terms on the Pinellas County School Board, dogged by questions of whether he lived in the district he was elected to represent and by allegations that he used school system supplies and personnel for personal business. In 1993, he was accused of forging at least one school employee's name on magazine subscription forms. Employees and other board members complained that they received unsolicited magazines and merchandise.
Espey entered a pretrial intervention program but did not admit to wrongdoing. "Things always liven up when she puts in an appearance." This quote appeared in Erie High School's 1914 yearbook, The Spokesman. Today, at 101, Mrs.
Dutton is still making people laugh. She celebrated her birthday Tuesday with a party at Highland Terrace, a retirement center in Clearwater where she has lived since 1976. Dutton "She's just a doll," said Sandy Vecchio, the center's activities director. Lucille Flickinger was born Jan. 7, 1896, in Erie, Pa.
She was the youngest of eight children. Her father was an insurance agent and her mother was a homemaker. She married Herbert Dutton. The couple had no children. Mrs.
Dutton never worked, but she did volunteer for many years for the Red Cross. She eventually settled in Clearwater and has lived at Highland Terrace longer than any of the center's other residents. Mrs. Dutton loves animals, Vecchio said. "She lives for Project the activities director said.

Though Mrs. Dutton gives no particular reason for her longevity, she is a strong proponent of bottled water. She said she never drinks tap water and has been drinking spring water all her life. Anniversaries William and Ruth Lynn of Clearwater celebrated their 50th anniversary with a cruise on the Regal Empress with their children. They were married Dec.
28, 1946, Bill and Esther Toigo in Erlanger, and came here in 1965 from Florence, Ky. Lynn was an auto technician with Swanson Chrysler Plymouth in St. Petersburg. Mrs. Lynn was a payroll supervisor at St.
Petersburg Junior College. The Lynns are members of Hercules Community Church of God in Clearwater. They have two children and two grandchildren. Bill and Esther Toigo of Clearwater celebrated their 50th anniversary with a party given by their daughter. They came here in 1965 from Springfield, where they were married Dec.
28, 1946. Toigo works as an insurance broker, and Mrs. Toigo worked for 50 years as a registered nurse. The Toigos, who are members of St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Clearwater, have 12 children, 28 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
